Our Commitment

The poultry used for FADI Prestige dishes comes exclusively from organic poultry farms. These farms are submitted to all year round to controls by an independent certifying body, Ecocert, «AB» (agriculture biologique = organic agriculture) approved. The whole production line is 100% organic, from growth to slaughter (including the animal feed). The products are certified « organic », according to the European specifications concerning the organic method of production for poultry :
  • It must be from a slow-growth breed (lived twice as long as the «industrial» chicken), which accounts for the firmness and the taste of its meat.
  • It must be bred from the fist day of life in an «organic» farm, and cannot be killed before a minimum of 81 days, in order to get the «free-running chicken» designation.
  • The animal feed must be made up of 100% of agricultural ingredients (derived from organic agriculture) : wheat, corn, barley, oats ; peas, beans ; oil seeds (soya and sunflower seeds) and minerals (seaweed and trace elements).
  • It must be able to move around freely in the open air on a grassy course, mostly covered by natural vegetation, this during most of the day (minimum of 4 sq. mt. each chicken) trough at least 1/3rd of his lifespan. The hen roost must shelter a maximum of 10 chickens/sq.mt.
  • Soil and fertility management is one of the basics for organic breeding : chicken droppings (while they are roaming in open air) help to fertilize the organic farmed soils, which in turn feeds the animal with the produced plants.
The organic farmer is very attentive to the living conditions of his animals. He always prioritizes prevention. The only treatments used are natural (homeopathy, phytotherapy...). The chicken are not treated with antibiotics. The use of growth stimulating or weight gaining substances is prohibited.
